THE DESIGN OPPORTUNITY
I see frequent requests for recommendations for designers from entrepreneurial listservs and frequent requests for job opportunities from design listservs. As both an entrepreneur and a designer, I saw the opportunity to connect these two groups.
SOLUTION
The entrepreneurs often have a specific need in mind, so I created an online directory listing freelance designers grouped by capability. This gives the entrepreneurs a shortlist of options for their needs - enough to understand the landscape, not enough to feel overwhelmed by choice - and then the power to reach out to designers directly. The designers are all Stanford affiliated - as a proxy for quality - and opted in through a survey.
