- 13 x 19 inches framed in unfinished maple floater frame
Entanglement is part of a collection of small, mixed-media paintings that explores quantum entanglement as a poetic condition, the mysterious way two distant things can remain connected and responsive to each other’s presence. In physics, entanglement describes an invisible bond across distance. In my work, it becomes a metaphor for the subtle exchanges that shape human experience, including memory, attention, longing, and the quiet gravity we exert on one another.
Each painting is monoprinted with plastic bags, leaving delicate, unpredictable textures that suggest both trace and presence, echoing the ephemeral yet enduring quality of entangled connections and then built up through layers of intuitive markmaking with paint, oil pastels, and oil sticks.
The use of multiple canvases within each artwork creates a visual dialogue, with separate surfaces carrying their own gestures and textures while ultimately completing one another. This fragmentation and recombination mirrors the duality of entanglement, where distinct entities form a single, though separable, system.
The modest scale of the paintings invites intimacy. Viewers are encouraged to lean in and discover the delicate marks and subtle irregularities that pulse across the panels. These quiet details reflect the unspoken forces that shape relationships, subtle interactions that are felt more than seen.
